How to Diagnose a Bad Foot Valve in a Submersible Well

A foot-valve is located at the bottom of a well and acts like a one-way check-valve allowing water to go up the pipe toward the house but not drain backward into the well. A foot-valve is only used in a jet-pump situation (where the pump resides above ground and shoots some water down the well to ….

Treadle valve air leak

 · Firm pressure, such as with a typical brake application, actually seems to stop the leak, so I am guessing it is a seal that is leaking when the valve is in the "non-applied" position. With the engine off, air loss is about 1.5psi/minute, which is below the allowable threshold, but I am used to a system that doesn't leak--it used to hold air.

Air Leak at Foot Valve Exhaust

 · I pulled the service side lines off the rear brake cans and got no backflow out of them. With the engine stopped, park brake set, and service brakes not applied, it was still leaking from the foot valve exhaust port. Reconnected the service chambers, chocked the wheels, released the spring brakes, and gave it a few hard, full applications.

Clark 175B 8V

 · I have recently purchased a Clark 175B loader with the old common seized brakes. I am about to start work to repair them and thought I would go through the air system first before I pull the wheels off to fix the seized calipers. The quick release valves are supplied by Bendix and I am assuming the foot brake air valves are possibly the same.

When the parking brake is applied, if I push on the foot

 · If so there are a few things to check for. The problem can be from the tractor protection valve itself bypassing seals internally. The tractor protection valve is not designed to work with your parking brake set. However if it's does not leak both ways than likely your foot valve is okay as that is one possibility that can bleed back air.

leaking from bottom of foot valve

 · If the parking brake is off and a diaphragm is leaking you can get feedback to the foot valve. With spring brakes it takes full air pressure in the spring brake can to release the parking brake so there is always air present and available to leak. If the parking brake is on, there is no air pressure to leak.
